2024 Design Trends

So, it’s now 2024! How did that happen?! As we step into the exciting world of design in 2024, it's clear that creativity knows no bounds. With technological advancements and new trends on the horizon, designers are pushing the envelope and redefining visual aesthetics. This is Nuture’s predictions of what design trends there will be in 2024…

Maximalism:

While minimalism has been a dominant trend in recent years, 2024 sees a resurgence of maximalism. Designers will be embracing bold and vibrant colour palettes, intricate patterns, and elaborate typography to create visually striking designs. This trend is all about breaking free from simplicity and making a bold statement. Forget about ‘safe’ or ‘quiet’ designs, this trend embodies extravaganza, personality and interest.

Sustainable designs:

With a growing focus on environmental consciousness, designers are incorporating sustainability into their work. This trend involves the use of eco-friendly colour palettes, recycled materials, and a reduction in unnecessary elements. Brands are increasingly leaning towards designs that not only captivate audiences but also convey a commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. Climate change is driving this trend, with many brands experimenting with sustainable materials for their packaging.

Immersive typography:

Typography takes centre stage in 2024, with designers experimenting with bold and unconventional fonts to create immersive experiences. Animated and interactive typography is becoming more prevalent, allowing designers to convey messages in a dynamic and engaging way. This trend adds a layer of creativity and expressiveness to various design elements.

3D and Holographic:

Embracing the third dimension has become a staple in graphic design. In 2024, designers are taking it a step further with holographic elements. This trend introduces a dynamic and immersive experience, blurring the lines between the digital and physical worlds. The use of 3D and holographic designs adds depth and a futuristic touch.

Pixels:

You heard it here, the 80’s are back! The pixel art of your childhood is making a big comeback in 2024, using its game inspired, fun and blocky designs to infuse a nostalgic twist into branding, packaging and web design. Think Pac Man, Minecraft and other arcade games for this visual.

Artificial Intelligence-Generated Designs:

Whether it is good or bad, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in design is gaining momentum. AI tools are being used to generate designs, analyse user preferences, and even predict future design trends. BUT, AI does not have to mean stealing your work, but could become your ultimate wingman.

Backlash of AI:

In our particular experience, we have found that working with a lot of creative people in lots of different industries, means that the human touch is still very much valued. Although AI can do a lot of things, it still could never replace the in-depth thought process behind a carefully constructed design. We think there could be a trend for ‘AI free zones’, where people know all work has been produced by a human touch.

All work shown within this article was completed by some incredible creatives, if you would like to find out more about who designed any of the pieces please reach out and we will point you in their direction.
